Alaska Travel Industry Association Gives “Legislative Recognition” to Rep. Grenn During Annual Convention
Anchorage – This week, the Alaska Travel Industry Association (ATIA) presented an award to Representative Jason Grenn (I-Anchorage) for his work on behalf of Alaska’s growing tourism industry. Rep. Grenn was given the association’s “Legislative Recognition” award for his ongoing support for Alaska’s tourism marketing program and travel industry.
“Alaska’s greatest natural resource is Alaska itself. Millions of people across the globe dream of visiting our great state because it’s uniquely beautiful and full of amazing people. Tourism is good for Alaska because it creates jobs and adds billions of dollars to our economy. I agree with thousands of small businesses that investing in marketing Alaska as a global destination is money well spent,” said Rep. Grenn.
The tourism industry is Alaska’s second largest private-sector employer and last year visitors spent an estimated $2.5 billion in Alaska. The entire tourism industry generated $4.5 billion in total economic activity.
Rep. Grenn accepted the ATIA’s “Legislative Recognition” award Tuesday during the association’s annual convention in Fairbanks. Rep. Grenn was also invited to join a panel discussion during the association’s pre-summit focused on how best to advocate for or against issues being considered by the Alaska State Legislature.
