ANCHORAGE – Speaker of the House Bryce Edgmon, D-Dillingham, and Senate President Pete Kelly, R-Fairbanks, today released the following statement.
“The 30th Alaska Legislature will call itself into a new special session beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, at the State Capitol in Juneau.
“Per legislative process, leadership polled members of the House and Senate and more than two-thirds support calling the Alaska Legislature into the new special session for the purposes of considering Senate Bill 23, the capital budget.
“Once the Senate and House convene, the polling results will be read in both bodies and a conference committee will be appointed to consider Senate Bill 23. The floor sessions will then recess for a conference committee meeting, planned for 1 p.m. on July 27 in the Senate Finance Committee Room. The intent is to finalize the compromise Fiscal Year 2018 capital budget and promptly reconvene the House and Senate floor sessions to formally pass the capital budget.”
