Task Force is Working on Recommendations to the Alaska Legislature

Anchorage – The third meeting of the Alaska Legislative Task Force on Reading Proficiency and Dyslexia will be held Monday in Anchorage. The 12-member task force, which was authorized earlier this year with the passage of House Bill 64, is studying the latest research on how children learn to read and examining ways to put that knowledge into practice in Alaska effectively.

Monday’s meeting will feature visiting experts in the science of reading including Nancy Duggan with Decoding Dyslexia Massachusetts and Audie Alumbaugh of Decoding Dyslexia Arkansas.

The public and media are welcome to attend Monday’s meeting.
