Rep. Tarr’s August 31st Newsletter: September 7th Constituent Meeting Details: Invited speakers, Call-in number, and Facebook Live

Senator Begich and I would like to extend an invitation to you! Please join us for our upcoming constituent meeting where we will discuss neighborhood public safety as well as the budget and the upcoming special session. As you are all aware, there is a lot of concern and confusion about changes made with SB 91 as well as staffing with APD, neighborhood crime, and vehicle theft.

Rep. Tarr’s July 20th Newsletter: Negotiating a Compromise to End Cash Payments to Oil Companies & Russian Jack Picnic

I’m pleased to write this after having worked hard to negotiate a compromise bill to end oil and gas cash subsidy payments. When asked about these subsidies in a recent budget survey, 93% of respondents in our area said they needed to end. Rep. Tarr’s April 18th Newsletter: Historic Action Taken by the House: We’ve Passed a Comprehensive, Sustainable Fiscal Plan

Over the weekend the House Majority made true on the commitment we made on November 9th when we came together to form a new coalition. We came together as Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to put our state back on track for a prosperous future by passing a fiscal plan. At the beginning of the session we said our plan had four pillars: reform of our overly generous oil and gas subsidies, strategic budget cuts, protection of the PFD and restructuring, and new revenue from a broad based tax. We took the enormity of the situation and with a laser focus worked diligently to get every measure passed. This is a lengthy enews and I hope you’ll have time to read all of it and will get in touch with questions. I love hearing from you!

Rep. Tarr’s Newsletter: TOMORROW is constituent meeting & budget update

Mahatma Gandhi’s words have resonated strongly with me this past week while defending the budgets of Alaska’s education and public welfare systems. Now is not the time to reduce the level of services we offer students, or lose teachers due to pink slips as the result of delayed school budgets. Nor is it the time to require an ever-shrinking police force to handle ever-increasing cases with diminished resources.
