Rep. Josephson’s Newsletter: Alaska’s Marketplace: Online Health Insurance

Dear Friends and Neighbors, This morning, Alaska’s online health insurance market debuted. Today, Alaskans can shop online for private insurance to meet the requirements of the new federal health care law. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has become muddled and confusing since its original enactment in 2010. Most recently, rhetoric on the government shutdown and postponement of the law creates even more confusion. It is my job to keep you informed of your options and educated on the major components of the Affordable Care Act as they take effect in the next year. What matters to me is maximizing the benefit of the ACA for Alaskans.

Rep. Josephson’s Newsletter: Community Empowerment: Northern Access, UAA, and Pebble

Dear Friends and Neighbors, Tomorrow night’s Assembly meeting will include an opportunity for public testimony on the state grant funds appropriated by the Legislature to the Municipality of Anchorage in the capital budget. Rep. Josephson’s Newsletter: North to Alaska: Ventures in the Interior

Recently, I took a trip to the Interior to attend the Chena Renewable Energy Fair as part of my duties with the House Special Committee on Energy. While I was in the north country, I had several other meetings to better educate myself on issues facing Alaskans.

Rep. Josephson’s Newsletter: Want to discuss the Northern Access Road?

Dear Friends and Neighbors, I have heard from a great number of you regarding the Northern Access Road project, otherwise known as the Bragaw Bypass Extension. Now is your time to be heard by the State Department of Transportation, the Municipality of Anchorage, and the lead engineering firm on the project, DOWL HKM. Please do not miss the first public meeting discussing the project this Tuesday August 27th, from 6 to 8pm at East High School (commons area)!

Rep. Andy Josephson’s Newsletter: A Time to Learn: Committees and Conferences

While the legislature is out of session, bills cannot be passed by the House or Senate to become law; however, committees do meet for informational hearings on specific issues or pieces of legislation. I have spent the past couple of weeks (with the exception of several wonderful hikes around town in the gorgeous weather!) attending committee hearings and conferences to become a better informed representative. Please contact me if you would like to know more about any of the issues I discuss below.
