Dear Friends & Neighbors:
Yesterday, House Finance finished going through its initial rewrite of the budget and today we adopted that as a committee substitute. The committee substitute includes a restoration of $19 million to the University of Alaska and an amendment reducing the draw from the earnings reserve of the Alaska Permanent Fund from 5.25% to 4.75%. We also changed the percentage of the Fund going to services and dividends from a 70-30 split to a 67-33 split. This raises the dividend from $1,216 to $1,270.
The next step for the budget is public testimony. One of the biggest parts of a legislator’s job is listening to the public. We want to hear your thoughts so please testify if you can. The information for testimony is as follows:
