Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Locally-owned businesses build strong communities by keeping dollars in the local economy, creating jobs, and sustaining vibrant neighborhoods. This week, we recognize two successful, growing businesses in our community: Anchorage Yoga and the Moose’s Tooth Pub & Pizzeria!

Anchorage Yoga Owner Katey Inman receives Chamber Gold Pan Award

Anchorage Yoga Co-owner and Teaching Director Katey Inman received the 2015 Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Gold Pan Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Now in its 6th year, Anchorage Yoga has a diverse group of loyal customers who regularly attend classes at their West Anchorage studio on Arctic Boulevard.

The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce found that Katey, “has provided excellent goods and services to the Anchorage area, as well as exemplified creative vision, talent and innovative thinking that has helped [Anchorage Yoga] create future business opportunities.” Anchorage Yoga has been complimented for its excellent customer service, creation of a healthy fitness environment, and commitment to providing wellness services to the Anchorage community.

An enthusiastic and challenging yoga instructor, Katey has made tremendous momentum since her early days as an instructor. In 2010, she began to realize her dream of creating a successful yoga studio when she founded Anchorage Yoga. The studio offers classes and programs for the ultimate mind-body connection and has become one of the premier fitness studios in Anchorage. Today, Anchorage Yoga offers 80+ classes each week as well as workshops and annual teacher trainings. Anchorage Yoga even offers children’s classes where parents and family members can practice yoga together!

In 2015, Anchorage Yoga expanded their business by opening Anchorage Cycle on Spenard. Anchorage Cycle offers indoor cycling and strength building classes in a state of the art facility. Anchorage Cycle has already attracted a loyal following of cyclists who enjoy challenging workouts and a positive, healthy atmosphere.

We look forward to the continued success of Anchorage Yoga & Cycle and its owner, Katey Inman!

Moose’s Tooth Pub & Pizzeria Celebrates 20th Anniversary

20 years ago, Moose’s Tooth Pub & Pizzeria opened its doors at the corner of 33rd Avenue and the Old Seward Highway. The location had been home to a series of unsuccessful restaurants, and some questioned whether the locally-owned, start-up restaurant would succeed. Today, of course, Moose’s Tooth is a textbook example of small business success. Its pizza receives great reviews from across the country, some describing the pizza as “the best in Alaska.” With companion businesses Bear Tooth Grill & Theater Pub on Spenard and the Broken Tooth Brewing Company in Ship Creek, the entrepreneurial owners have helped to grow vibrant neighborhoods, create diverse opportunities for dining and entertainment, and employed countless Alaskans.

Moose’s Tooth recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a sold-out performance by members of the hip-hop group, Wu-Tang Clan.

We look forward to 20 more years of good times, good beer, and good pizza at the Moose’s Tooth Pub & Pizzeria!
