Rep. Seaton’s July 3rd Newsletter

Greetings and happy Fourth of July! This week I am back in the district. If your group would like to contact me, please call the Homer office at 235-2921 to schedule a meeting as I am often on the road and may be heading back to Juneau at some point. I plan on participating in Fourth of July events around Homer and Anchor Point tomorrow, and Wednesday I will be on KBBI’s Coffee Table; tune in at 9 am for a discussion of the state’s budget challenges.

Rep. Parish’s June 30th Newsletter: Capitol Update

The House passed an operaƟng budget, for a third Ɵme this year, nine days before a shutdown. We prevented the worst cuts proposed by the Senate Majority. They proposed cuts that would have costed your friends and neighbors their jobs.

Rep. Grenn’s June 30th Newsletter: Operating Budget, 4th of July Events, Hunting & Fishing Season

As you likely know, the House passed the FY18 budget late last week. These and other compromises happened to avert shutdown of our state government.

June 29th Note from Rep. Gara: Session Good, Bad & Ugly: Schools, Children, Seniors Protected; Economy Not!

While some good news came out of session, I’m frustrated, and know you are. As one vote, I don’t get to make all 60 people take action. I get to try. And I get to pitch compromises that I can’t force anyone to respond to. I’m a fan of democracy. I’m not a fan of not being able, as one person, to force people out of their ideological boxes to reach needed compromise, to get good things done.
