I regret to announce that the M/V Tustumena, which was originally scheduled to be out of the Vigor Shipyard in Ketchikan and back into service on May 27th, has had its return to service delayed until July 18th. The delay is due to the discovery and necessary repair of additional extensive steel wastage in the engine room.

Speaker Edgmon’s Mar. 10th Newsletter: Operating Budget Progressing toward Full Vote of House

The Finance Committee adopted its amended versions of the FY18 Operating and Mental Health Budgets this morning. The FY18 Operating Budget reduces agency spending by $61 million compared to FY17 spending. The bills likely will be debated on the House floor for passage early next week.

NEWS: Legislation Naming Two State Ferries Passes the Alaska Legislature

Juneau – Legislation to officially name two new state ferries after the Alaska glaciers Tazlina and Hubbard passed the Alaska State Legislature today. Senate Bill 33 was introduced on behalf of Alaska Governor Bill Walker. Earlier today, the bill unanimously passed the Alaska House of Representatives after unanimous support in the Alaska Senate on February 27th.
