Greetings! I wanted to send out a reminder for public testimony on the Operating Budget which starts Thursday 1-3:30pm for District 31 (overflow is on Saturday 3-5p or email anytime to HouseFinance@akleg.gov ). The subcommittees’ proposed amendments have all been voted on in House Finance and today they will be incorporated into a new Committee Substitute for HB 57 Operating Budget. News: Foster Youth Jail, Homeless, Education Numbers: A Call for Attention

Anchorage – Today, two former foster youth, Representative Les Gara (D-Anchorage) and foster care advocate Amanda Metivier, released sobering numbers for the growing number of Alaska youth in foster care. They are also calling for attention to the over 2,400 foster youth for which the state is the legal guardian.

Rep. Tuck’s Community Connection: Keep an Eye Out for Suspicious Offers

I was recently alerted by a friend about a potential scam operation being conducted in our area and I want to get a quick warning out to everyone.

What we know is that there is a male who appears to be in his late 30s posing as a municipal employee and offering to perform work on people’s driveways at no cost. The individual is persistent, and might make multiple visits offering free services ranging from weed removal to complete driveway replacement.
