The legislature passed HB 2001 restoring funding for about 80% of budget items Governor Dunleavy vetoed. This bill seeks to find compromise with the Governor by accepting $94 million in cuts to the operating budget while restoring the majority of the University funding, homeless and domestic violence programs, Alaska State Council on the Arts, pre-K programs, and more.

Special Session Update

I wanted to take this opportunity to share an update on the work accomplished recently in the Legislature. Dunleavy should “Stand Tall” for a fair share for our oil instead of blaming Alaskans

I want to thank everyone who has come forward to tell their stories about how Governor Dunleavy’s budget vetoes will affect our state and the people who call it home. Every legislator has received thousands of emails, phone calls, and personal visits over the past weeks from people who want to tell of how they or someone they care for will be denied the opportunities and services which a functioning society ought to provide to its citizens.
