Rep. Scott Kawasaki’s Juneau Note: Energy Council; Early Education Pre-K Program;

I returned Sunday night from my trip to the Energy Council. The four days spent in Washington were filled with non-stop meetings and seminars throughout the day. I travelled with three fellow House Democrats and a dozen House Republicans for meetings about Alaska. Meetings included visiting our Congressional Delegation and members of the Senate Energy Committee, the EPA and the Department of Interior.

Rep. Kerttula’s Juneau Newsletter: Oil & Gas Tax Revision Moves Forward

On Monday, the House Resources Committee passed out legislation to revise Alaska’s oil & gas taxes after only a handful of hearings. As I wrote in my February 11 newsletter, I oppose these changes. Berta’s Briefings from Rep. Gardner: Reflections on my Kensington Mine Visit

One of the things I enjoy very much about being a legislator is the opportunity it gives me to go out and see firsthand what’s going on around our beautiful state. Last week several of us visited the Kensington Gold Mine located near Juneau. We set out early in the morning driving toward the end of the road; then taking a boat through the clear water of the Lynn Canal to the mining site.
