Alaska Legislature Passes Bill to Revise Alaska’s Outdated Automotive Dealership Franchise Agreements

Juneau – Today, the Alaska Legislature passed legislation updating state statutes dealing with franchise agreements between auto dealers and auto manufacturers and distributors. House Bill 136 was sponsored by Representative Matt Claman (D-Anchorage). The Senate companion bill, Senate Bill 47, was introduced by Senator Kevin Meyer.

Alaska House Passes Legislation to Help More Military Spouses Work in Alaska

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill to evaluate regulations which allow military spouses with occupational licenses from other states to obtain expiated courtesy occupational licenses in Alaska. House Bill 262 requires the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development to provide a report to the Alaska Legislature on the progress of implementing the regulations. HB 262 requires the Department to track how temporary courtesy occupational licenses are used and to document that the occupational boards in Alaska know and understand the legislative mandate to provide courtesy licenses to military spouses.

House Passes Bill to Eliminate an Unnecessary Regulatory Burden on Alaska’s Marijuana Businesses

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives unanimously approved legislation to ease an overly burdensome regulation that requires annual fingerprinting of those seeking to renew their marijuana establishment registration. House Bill 319 changes the fingerprinting requirement to once every six years.

House Passes Legislation to Grow Agriculture Industry and Support “Alaska Grown” Product

Juneau – Tonight, the Alaska House of Representatives passed legislation to increase sales of “Alaska Grown” agricultural and fisheries products. House Bill 217 accomplishes three things; allows the Division of Agriculture to increase “Alaska Grown” marketing, supports farm touring in Alaska, and encourages the State of Alaska, school districts, and municipalities to buy more “Alaska Grown” agricultural and fisheries products.
