Greetings from Juneau on this 44th day of the session! I wanted to send out a reminder for public testimony on the Operating Budget which starts Thursday March 1 from 1-3:00pm for District 31. Written testimony may be emailed anytime to The subcommittees’ proposed amendments have all been voted on in House Finance and today they were incorporated into new Committee Substitutes for HB 285 Operating Budget and HB 286 Mental health Budget .

Senator Tom Begich and I are continuing the tradition started by our great former Senator, Johnny Ellis – a pizza and district constituent meeting this Saturday. We hope you can make it at Noon, at the Fairview Rec. Center (1121 E 10th Ave). We’ll listen to your thoughts, and talk about what we and other legislators are working on. If that’s not interesting enough, we’ll bring what we think is some of the best pizza in the city. Eighteen pizza pies to make sure we have enough.

Legislation to Update Alaska’s Code of Military Justice Passes the Alaska House

Juneau – Today, the Alaska House of Representatives unanimously passed legislation to update Alaska’s Code of Military Justice (ACMJ) to mirror recent updates to the Federal Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). House Bill 307, sponsored by House Military and Veterans Affairs Committee Chair Representative Chris Tuck (D-Anchorage), is a continuation of the successful effort in 2016 to update the state code for the first time since 1955.
