Rep. Grenn’s November 9th Newsletter: Criminal Justice Reform and AK LNG Update

Protecting Alaskans and keeping our communities safe is perhaps the primary obligation of our government. The past few months, I've spent an enormous amount of time learning about the different facets of crime, and how it affects our state, meeting with everyone from prosecutors, law enforcement, business owners, and victims of crimes. I was pleased to be in Juneau the last two weeks fighting for legislation that can be part of the solution to help stop the recent uptick in criminal activity.

Rep. Claman’s November 9th Newsletter: Recognizing Our Veterans & House Passes Senate Bill 54

Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the signing of the armistice between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918, marking the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation to change the name to Veterans Day to honor those who served in all American wars.
